Work Day – August 8/19/2023

We are having a work day Saturday, August 19, from 9AM-Noon.

What We Will Be Doing: We will be doing some much-needed brushing along the Switchback Trail, from Bailey Canyon to the Pedestrian Bridge.

What to Bring: Water, gloves, and sturdy shoes. We will provide the tools.

Where to Meet: Meet at the Switchback Trailhead in Bailey Canyon.

Directions to the Switchback Trailhead from Alamogordo:

  • Take US Hwy 82 from Alamogordo toward Cloudcroft.
  • Just past mile marker 14, turn left onto Bailey Canyon Rd.
  • Cross the cattle guard and park.

Work Day – July 7/15/2023

We are having a work day Saturday, July 15, from 9AM-Noon.

What We Will Be Doing: We will be placing gravel around the three historical signs at the Village Spur Trail Head. We will also install a seasonal sign mount behind the Ski Palace, replacing the temporary installation made earlier this year. We’ll work on a path lined with rocks from the Village Trail Spur Trail Head to the Power House pedestal sign.

What We Will Be Doing: We will be doing trail maintenance in the Trestle Recreation Area, focusing on Devil’s Elbow.
