Earth Day 2018

Alamogordo is hosting their annual Earth Day celebration Saturday April 28, from 9am-4pm, in Alameda Park.  As usual, NMRTA will have a booth!  We will have railroad spike driving and coloring for the kids, and plenty of trail maps for everyone.  Stop by to see us!

Work Day – April 4/21/18

WHAT WE WILL BE DOING: We will be working the Upper Bridal Veil Falls Trail doing weed control, sealing and cleaning the bridge we built in 2012, and doing erosion control at several places along the trail.  Light to heavy work…something for all.  As usual, bring water, gloves, sun protection and sturdy shoes.

WHEN:  Saturday April 21, 2018, 9 am…work until noon.

WHERE: Bridal Veil Falls Trail Head (T-129)   To get there…from the Cherry Festival location in High Rolls, travel North on Fresnel Canyon Rd 0.9 miles to the intersection of the Grandview Lower Trailhead and the Bridal Veil Falls Trailhead.

 

We will have shirts and caps with the new NM Rails-to-Trails Association logo for purchase.

WHAT WE WILL BE DOING: We will be continuing work on the Salado Canyon Trail: light brushing, clearing, repairing and treating  wooden culverts, building water bars and doing general trail improvements.  Light to heavy work…something for all.  Bring water, gloves, sun protection, sturdy shoes and a jacket.

WHEN:  Saturday March 17, 2018, 9 am…work until noon.

WHERE: Salado Canyon Trail Head (T-128)   To get there…from the Cherry Festival location in High Rolls, travel North on Fresnel Canyon Rd 2.1 miles to.  “Where the power lines cross the road.”
