What we’ll be doing
Just like we’ve done over the last couple of work days, this month we’re enjoying Cloudcroft again to work around the historical trestle on the Brooks property. As part of a systematic effort to control erosion under the trestle, we will start building “gully plugs” upstream from the trestle and bridge. The erosion is starting to undercut the trestle structure and if left unchecked, it will eventually drop the trestle into the steep canyon below. Again, these efforts are in support of having the Trestle eventually recognized as a historical site.
Also, we’ll continue doing some brush cutting and in turn, use part of the cuttings to block an area where unauthorized access has been occurring. There will certainly be work for all skill levels!

Driving Directions
Head on up to Cloudcroft as you normally would. We’ll be parking and meeting at the Village Spur Trailhead parking area where Highway 130 intersects with Highway 82. It’s easy to spot there on your right just as you enter Cloudcroft if coming in from High Rolls or Alamogordo.
